Thailand day 12: Phi Phi magic

September 13th 2016

From the Ao Nang pier, we took the ferry to the infamous Phi Phi islands. We only did Ko Phi Phi Don in order to save a bit of money, but one island was more than enough!

The view on the ferry was absolutely amazing. You had the choice of sitting inside or outside on the deck in front or at the end of the boat. After about 2 hours, we arrived (completely sunburnt) and immediately found somewhere to eat.

One delicious meal later, we tried to find the 3km hike up to the Phi Phi Viewpoint. And let me tell you one thing: BRING.WATER! I died about 78 times while hiking up there in the 30ish°C weather. I also quit about 6 times and told myself the view wouldn’t be worth it, but MAN, IT WAS. Another life lesson learned!

Turns out we took the wrong (aka the long) way up and tortured ourselves for no reason at all. We took the normal way back and made it down in about 30min instead of the 2-3 hours it took us to get up.

It was almost time to head back to the ferry, but S. and M. still wanted to go for a quick swim. On the way back to Ao Nang, I sat inside the ferry because I’m pretty sure my body would’ve spontaneously combusted if one more ray of sunshine touched it.

For dinner we tried to find oysters because M. was craving some, but we couldn’t find any. We found a different seafood restaurant, though, without the oysters, and had dinner right by the water. It was amazing.

After a quick tuktuk ride we were back at the resort. I cuddled the kitty for a while and then we all went to bed. For some reason my body started itching a LOT. No idea why… It certainly wasn’t because I looked like a tomato… No! Wear sunscreen.
